The G-TwYST testing is done with two genetically modified (GM) maize events: MON810 and NK603.

NK603 has been genetically modified using a gene from soil bacterium Agrobacterium ssp. strain CP4. By the change of one amino acid the plants are tolerant to the herbicides with the ingredient glyphosate. NK603 is currently cultivated in Northern and Southern America but has not been authorized for cultivation in the EU. The placing on the market of foods and feed derived from this event has been authorized by the European Commission in 2005. More information about MON810 can be obtained from the websites of GM Compass and the EU Register of authorised GMOs.
